What fascinates me about both painting and
monotype is the depth of texture and color that
can be achieved, the richness of the process
and the aspect of chance that is inevitable.
My ongoing interest is layering image fields,
organic shape, texture, pattern, transparency
of color. It is my hope that the many contrasts
I use create a soothing and engaging
experience for the viewer one that provides
refuge and nourishment and a reminder of the
beauty and resources of nature within
and without.

The technique I use for monotype involves
layering and masking different fields of color
and shape by running the paper through the
press many times.

My goal is to create images that reach beyond
a literal sense of place to an eternal, meditative
one. In my work I strive to create a visual
ecosystem of shape, color, texture and depth
based on landscape and natural form and my
own impressions of a felt, internal space.
